The Declaration of the Establishment of the Damascus Center for the study of Human Rights :Defining the Center: The Damascus Center for the Study of Human Rights is an independent non-governmental organization that has adopted the city of Damascus as its location and works to protect and strengthen human rights. The center aims for the creation and advancement ofthe culture of human rights in society by way of adopting theoretical and academic programs that encompass studies, research, and the holding of conferences, seminars, tutorial classes and courses that ultimately serve the field of human rights.
The Policy of the Center:
The center does not affiliate with any political activities and is not subordinate or belonging to any national, Arab, or International political group; from this starting point the center cooperates with everybody.
The center strives to undertake research and studies that are related to Syrian laws and legal regulations specifically and to Arab and international ones in general, along with the presentation of suggested law projects that are related to international human rights agreements.
The center stands against any kind of human rights violation that is specified by the constitution and/or relevant international agreements.
The center works to achieve its goals by way of the various means of communication and the visual, audio, and written media.
The center works in coordination with the organizations and official agencies that work in the field of human rights inside of Syria, and in no way does it consider itself an alternative to them. The center cooperates with similar orcorresponding organizations and centers in the Arab world, along with international organizations whose goals and starting points are in keeping with the inclinations of the center and its goals.
The center relies for its funding primarily on the donations of its members, the Syrian citizens, and organizations of civil society, and accepts no funding from the government.
